Smooth Fox Terrier
The Smooth Fox Terrier is a quick and alert little dog that make really good watchdogs. They need plenty of activity to stop them from getting up to mischief.
These small dogs are usually friendly with strangers with lots of socialising required to make them tolerant of other unknown dogs.

Size: 28.5-29.5 cm (15-15.5 in)
Weight: 7-8 kg (15.5-18 lb)
Coat: Straight, smooth and hard
Colour: White, white with tan, black and tan or black markings

Special Characteristics
These dogs are alert and are aroused very easily. You would also describe these dogs as being quick, keen, friendly, extrovert and curious.
Exercise Requirements
This breed is busy at home and when outside, they are classed as having high exercise requirements. The dog will need at least two good walks each day to use up their abundance of energy.
Attitude Towards:
Owners: Are independent of their owners, will show them lots of affection.
Children: Usually good if raised with them.
Other Pets: They have a high prey and chase drive and may cause injury to small pets including cats.
Strangers: This breed is territorial, will be friendly if well socialised.
Other Unfamiliar Dogs: Can be problematic if not well socialised, you should make this part of your training programme.
What to Watch Out For
They could well be a problem around other small animals including cats and are known for excessive barking. Might be okay around cats if raised with them.
Health Risks
Just three known health risks to take note of with this breed including; eye and heart defects, epilepsy and Legg-Calve-Perthes.
Ideal Owner
The perfect owner of the Smooth Fox Terrier should be experienced with dogs and be an active person that is strong-willed and enjoy playing. This is an active dog and will get into mischief if not kept occupied.
